Real Madrid may have the perfect player to accompany Benzema…
Real Madrid are set for a busy transfer window. They sit second in La Liga and their Champions League group. Their season has been by no means disastrous but Zinedine Zidane and Madrid are always going to aim for perfection. That said, bolstering their squad and relieving of the deadwood will serve them well in the new year.
There are bound to be the obvious links with Kylian Mbappe, Neymar, Paul Pogba, etc. These will never go away. However, it’s always exciting when fans see a new name thrown into the mix.
According to Calciomercato, Real Madrid are considering the option of a swap deal involving James Rodriguez. Rumours suggest they are interested in offering the Colombian to Arsenal in return for their coveted striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. Aubameyang won the golden boot in the Premier League last season and he is a contender to win the award again this season.

He is a prolific goalscorer who likes to get himself in a variety of positions, really honing his craft in France, Germany and now England. Aubameyang is very speedy and agile. He has a skill set that allows him to showboat and wow the crowd from time to time, which is just what Los Blancos expect.
Arsenal are going through another period of transition after Unai Emery was sacked recently. They now have an interim manager, Freddie Ljungberg taking charge. Depending on how things pan out with the club legend in charge, this could persuade Aubameyang’s decision to leave in January.
Aubameyang has formed a heartwarming bromance with Alexandre Lacazette in the Arsenal camp. Luckily for Real Madrid fans, Lacazette’s playing style is somewhat similar to Karim Benzema‘s, so Aubameyang wouldn’t need much time to adjust.
He would give Zinedine Zidane another dynamic and, as always he will prove to be a worthy source of goals. Benzema still has plenty of fuel left in the tank so it will take some effort to dethrone him in the starting XI but when Real Madrid come calling, it’s difficult to turn them down.
James Rodriguez, on the other hand, is trying to get his career back on track. Ljungberg seems to have the right sort of philosophy at Arsenal and playing at the top level himself, will be able to mentor James in the right manner.
James will act as a direct alternative to Mesut Ozil, who seems down and out at Arsenal. Depending on how the German reacts to a change of culture at the club, acquiring James in a swap deal could be worth thinking about for the Arsenal hierarchy.
Do you think Real Madrid will be successful in their pursuit of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang?
