2. Players will no longer be played out of position

Too often this season, players have been forced to play out of position in order to fill a void left by injury or suspension.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles is one of those players. The young Englishman has honed his craft in midfield and that’s the position he wants to be played in. However, he has been forced to play as a wing-back throughout the majority of this season, to fill in for the previously injured Hector Bellerin.

While this is a testament to his versatility and he should be applauded for his ability to fill in during a time of need, he will be glad the January transfer window is approaching. Not because he will be looking for a move away but because he will be hopeful a backup right-back will be signed by Ljungberg and company.

Another player who will benefit is Lucas Torreira. At times, he has had the creative onus placed on him in order to fill the Mesut Ozil void. If Ljungberg is a fan of Ozil, then Torreira can easily retain his natural role of being the destroyer in the team. That’s the position that made him the signing of the season last time out.
