The Real Madrid boss knows what he wants and he’ll stop at nothing to get it…
“Life ain’t about how hard you hit, it’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward.” This famous Rocky Balboa quote is timeless, particularly in the world of sport. One team who will be feeling the need to recite it over and over is Real Madrid. Countless transfer windows have gone by where they have failed to sign their prime target but they keep coming back.
Real Madrid have been trying for what seems like aeons to sign Paul Pogba of Manchester United. According to Marca, they will try yet again to sign the Frenchman this January, despite claims that Federico Valverde could be the midfield option going forward.
Valverde has been in excellent form in recent matches. Even against Paris Saint-Germain, the Uruguay international was bright and lively. He is a box-to-box midfielder, much like Pogba, that thrives in the final third. He likes to play incisive passes and he has become a core member in what is now a frightening, attacking philosophy from Zinedine Zidane.

The general concern is that signing Paul Pogba would hinder the progress of Valverde but this could easily be resolved. Pogba is one of the best midfielders in the world and, although things haven’t worked out for him this season, is a trusted midfielder. If the two can form a healthy working relationship, then Valverde’s progress will sky-rocket.
Pogba has played alongside many world-class midfielders in his time. Having played alongside N’Golo Kante, Claudio Marchisio, Andrea Pirlo, Nemanja Matic and many others, he would have no trouble becoming a regular in the Real Madrid setup.
He would also work extra hard under the guidance of Zinedine Zidane, a man who has probably been a great influence on Pogba growing up. Under Zidane’s guidance, both Pogba and Valverde could be the midfielders of the future.
