Barcelona: Pep Guardiola to steal Catalans primary transfer target

It seems Pep Guardiola has set his sights on Barcelona’s primary transfer target and will look to beat his old club to the signing.

It is no secret Barcelona are eyeing up replacements for their ageing veteran striker in Luis Suarez. The Catalans have been on the market for a striker during the current season and they have kept a close eye especially on one man in particular playing in Italy.

That man is the Inter Milan and Argentinian forward Lautaro Martinez. The Argentinian forward has the same burst of pace, exuberant energy and South American spirit that has been reminiscent of Luis Suarez during his prime.

It is no wonder Barcelona are interested in Martinez’s services who has been in great form this season scoring 13 goals in 19 appearances so far.

Yet it seems that the Catalans will have to fight for Lautaro Martinez’s services and with quite an unlikely foe in former club legend, captain and previous coach Pep Guardiola. According to Sky Sports in Italy via Daily Mail, Lautaro Martinez has attracted the interests of Guardiola who sees the Argentinian as the perfect ‘replacement’ for Sergio Aguero.

The news will definitely come as a concern for Barcelona officials. With Manchester City’s spending power and the lure of working under Guardiola who is one of the best coaches in the world, Martinez may be tempted by Man City’s offer over that of the Catalans.

It will most certainly make Barcelona’s attempt at signing Lautaro Martinez a lot harder but the Catalans will be hoping that the opportunity to play with his fellow countrymen and best player in the world in Lionel Messi and at one of the biggest clubs in the world will be enough to convince Martinez to join the club over that of Manchester City’s money.
