2. Lucas Leiva

The Brazilian holding midfielder played over 200 times for Liverpool during the decade. Throughout the club’s ups and downs he was always a loyal servant and someone who could be relied upon.

Lucas went through all the managers during the decade and he played a key part in each of their tenures. A tough tackling midfielder with ferocious energy and a never say die attitude despite some criticism Lucas warmed himself to many of the Anfield faithful with his persistence and ability to never give up.

At some points during the decade Lucas was so highly lauded he was one of the most crucial members of the Liverpool squad. He left the club in 2017 after he fell down the pecking order but he left having helped the Reds reach the Champions League once more and with many Reds regretful about his departure.

3. Martin Skrtel

The Slovakian tough tackling defender just like Lucas was a stalwart member of the club throughout the decade and amassed way over 200 appearances for the Reds during the period. In addition to those appearances Skrtel scored an incredible 17 goals during the 2010s for the club.

The Slovakian was always a fearsome presence at the back for the club. He bullied attackers and made forwards quake in their boots at the prospect of facing the towering Slovakian. Skrtel also scored in the Carling Cup final in 2012 to help secure the first trophy of the decade for the club. He scored 7 goals in the Reds’ run to finishing second place in the Premier League during the 2013/14 season under Brendan Rodgers which was a hugely impressive tally for a defender.

Always a threat from corners Skrtel did have his moments where he struggled to keep at pace with the high intensity of the Premier League and he was never too comfortable on the ball which eventually meant he departed the club in 2016.
