4. Luis Suarez

The Uruguayan who was dubbed El Pistolero during his time at Anfield was truly one of the most sensational players to play for the club based on just sheer footballing ability. Suarez had a knack for coming up with sensational individual moments whilst playing in the red shirt of Liverpool. From his incredible record against Norwich to some outstanding goals against Stoke to Newcastle and Everton.

Suarez was beloved by the Kop, despite his rash antics the Reds faithful always had his back and Suarez returned the favour with passionate and exuberant displays. His technique, skills and strength made him one of the most fearsome strikers to ever play in the Premier League and his form during the 2013/14 season in which Liverpool came so close to lifting the Premier League title was unique to say the least.

He often carried the Reds on his back and without him Liverpool would have surely struggled during their low points of the decade. He departed the club for Barcelona and not many could have blamed him after he gave it his all for the Reds during his time with the club.

5. Philippe Coutinho

The Brazilian magician was a masterful purchase by Brendan Rodgers in January of 2013 for just 8 million pounds. Back then Coutinho was relatively unheard of and was struggling to get into the Inter Milan side. There were eyebrows raised at the Reds’ purchase but Rodgers would be proved right in the end.

Coutinho settled into the club magnificently and he was for five years the major creative spark in the Liverpool line-up. The Brazilian lit up Anfield with his silky footwork, tremendous vision and passing ability as well as his perpetual dribbles and mazy runs.

Coutinho played over 200 times for Liverpool and scored over 50 goals which is a fine return for the Brazilian.

He left on hostile terms in 2018 January for Barcelona after feigning an injury during the summer of 2017. Coutinho showed professionalism playing some of his best football for the club during that half season but the Anfield faithful still hold him with a bitter regard.
