Juventus player ratings vs Lazio: Cuadrado’s red card costly for Juve
By John Vaccaro
CM: Rodrigo Bentancur 8.5/10
Rodrigo Bentancur was on his way to his best performance of the season when he picked up an injury trying to make a tackle at the edge of Juve’s penalty area. Before that, he made a spectacular pass to set up Ronaldo’s goal and made another great run that could have created a chance for Juve.
We saw him improve early in the year last season when he started to get regular playing time and that appeared to be what was happening again this year. Hopefully he can recover from his injury quickly so he can keep this great form he was in.
CM: Miralem Pjanic 5/10
This was a bad match for Pjanic for 2 reasons. The first is that he wasn’t able to create anything of note for Juve in the match. The more important reason is that he took an unnecessary yellow card that will put Juve in an awful spot without him against Udinese next weekend. This wasn’t a good match for any of Juve’s midfielders who finished the match and they made Lazio look like the superior midfield in the second half.
CM: Blaise Matuidi 6.5/10
I thought Blaise Matuidi would have a bigger impact on this match than he’s had in the rest of Juve’s recent matches, but he, unfortunately, wasn’t able to help Juve get points from the match. He made a couple of big tackles when he dropped back to defend, but he wasn’t able to disrupt Lazio’s pressure in the second half. Matuidi just didn’t bring enough to the table for Juve on Saturday.
