Juventus player ratings vs Lazio: Cuadrado’s red card costly for Juve
By John Vaccaro
CAM: Federico Bernardeschi 6/10
This was a pretty standard match for Federico Bernardeschi. He put himself in some good positions where he had opportunities to influence the match, but he just wasn’t able to finish the job. He shows every time he starts that he just isn’t the answer in this role, but Juve doesn’t have anybody else right now. Hopefully, Aaron Ramsey can come back soon because Juve badly needs him.
ST: Paulo Dybala 6.5/10
Paulo Dybala looked like the Dybala we’ve gotten used to in the first half of this match. He nearly scored another fantastic goal early on, but Strakosha stopped his curling effort from outside of the box. He passed the ball well in the first half too, but wasn’t able to get Juve a second goal. In the second half, he disappeared along with the rest of the attack until he was eventually subbed off. This was a disappointing match from a player who was absolutely on fire coming in. Hopefully he can get back to normal the next time he starts (I don’t know who Juve is going to start on Wednesday yet).
ST: Cristiano Ronaldo 8/10
The Cristiano Ronaldo we saw in the first half of this match is the one that I’ve been waiting over a month to see again. He was engaged, motivated, and incisive and it led to him scoring a goal. The finish itself wasn’t all that impressive, but he was instrumental in the buildup of the move and it was an overall impressive play from him and Bentancur.
He wasn’t done there, as he tried to dribble through the defense for the first time I can recall in some time and gave them some trouble. He also created a change for Bernardeschi, but they just weren’t able to link up right.
Unfortunately, the whole attack disappeared in the second half and Ronaldo didn’t really do much to turn things around. The first half of this match was a good sign that Ronaldo might be able to fix his problems, but he still needs to be able to put together a full match for Juve.
