Juventus player ratings vs Lazio: Cuadrado’s red card costly for Juve
By John Vaccaro
Emre Can 5.5/10
Emre Can gave us so much hope early on in his substitute appearance. He made a great pass that looked like it would open up Lazio’s defense. It didn’t lead to a goal, but it was at least something positive from a guy who hasn’t done much positive this season. From there, he went back to being

the Can we’re used to and provided very little for Juve to work with. In spite of his poor performances, Can will now have plenty of opportunity to play because he is one of the few healthy options left in Juve’s midfield.
Danilo 5/10
It’s hard to fault Danilo for Juve’s poor defense after his introduction when he was only brought on because of Cuadrado’s red card. He wasn’t good. He wasn’t bad. He was pretty much just there. He’ll get a chance to show more against Udinese with Cuadrado suspended and could get more opportunities after that if Sarri decides to bench Cuadrado because of this performance.
Gonzalo Higuain Inc.
Normally, the 17 minutes that Higuain played would be enough to give a sub a grade, but I don’t really know how to judge a striker that is brought on late in a match to get an equalizer when his team is down a man. Higuain never had a chance to make his presence felt in this match, so he’ll just get an incomplete. I think we’ll see more of him on Wednesday against Leverkusen.
Manager: Maurizio Sarri 2/10
I don’t now what to expect from Maurizio Sarri anymore. I thought for a while that the problem with Juve was that Sarri was picking the wrong squad, but now he doesn’t even have Sami Khedira available to start.
He started the best lineup available to him against Lazio, but they were still abysmal in the second half. It’s almost like Massimiliano Allegri never left. We’ve spent years complaining about the fact that Allegri’s Juve completely stopped attacking once they got a lead. Well, they still do that with Sarri as their manager.
He was supposed to get Juve playing a more enjoyable and cleaner style of football, but I think Juve has gotten worse since he got here. Maybe Chelsea’s fans were right last year and Sarri just isn’t very good at his job. Whatever is going on here, it looks like trouble for Juve.
