Barcelona: Five ideal candidates to replace Ernesto Valverde
By Bence Bocsak
5. Xavi
The former Barcelona captain and legend of the club may come as a surprise to end this list but Xavi has recently made the move into management and his next destination could be the Catalans.
Xavi is currently in charge of Al Saad SC in Qatar where he has done a good job and has got the team playing a wonderful attacking style system with tiki-taka incorporated into the way his side plays. Such a system would be most welcome at the Nou Camp too as would the return of Xavi himself.
Having spent almost his entire life at Barcelona, Xavi has the Catalans blood running through his veins, he knows what the fans want and he knows the demand and the expectations. He is clearly looking into management as a future career and his appointment at the Nou Camp could herald the ‘next Guardiola’ moment at the club.
Xavi could have the same impact as Guardiola if he is given the chance. Though to replace Ernesto Valverde fully may come a bit early for the Spaniard. Instead Xavi should be brought in as the Barcelona B coach just the way Guardiola had first started his managerial career with the Catalans before slowly moving up the ranks.
That would be the ideal scenario however if Barcelona’s form under Ernesto Valverde continues to dwindle, Xavi may be brought in faster than desired and his arrival as manager could inspire both the fans and the players on the pitch to take their game to another level.
If Xavi can implement the same style of play he is currently playing with Al Saad his venture could be a major success. He could also be crucial in the development of Frenkie De Jong and Arthur two young players who play in a similar position to him and his experience could be vital for the pair of them.
What do you think who should replace Ernesto Valverde at Barcelona?
