Real Madrid are willing to part with Luka Modric in order to land one of the best players from the Italian top flight in 2020.
Real Madrid are going to need to replace their veteran Sergio Ramos soon and it is only a matter of time before a big defensive signing is made. However, in today’s inflated market, it will definitely need a lot of money to be spent even on a central defender and more so if one keeps an eye on who the Whites have been targeting.
Primarily, Zinedine Zidane’s side is monitoring progresses of Napoli man Kalidou Koulibaly and Inter Milan superstar Milan Skriniar, while Liverpool’s central defender in Virgil van Dijk has been strongly linked with a move to the club by Spain’s media at times as well. But El Desmarque has claimed that the Merengues have now decided who they will pursue.
Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly will now be Real Madrid’s focal point as they hunt for Sergio Ramos’ replacement. The Senegal international has been brilliant for the Italian giants and has attracted some realistic interest from Manchester United as well. However, with the Red Devils now settling for Harry Maguire, Madrid may find it easier to land their man.

Aurelio de Laurentiis, the Naples based club’s president has made it clear that Koulibaly is valued at 100 million euros or so in Italy so anything less than that in terms of an offer would not even be considered. Real Madrid are ready to offer 50 million euros plus Luka Modric in exchange for the centre back.
Luka Modric’s contract at Real Madrid expires at the end of the current season and there has been no talk of renewal just yet. The Merengues will certainly not want to lose the Croat for free and with him still having some football in him, so even though it may be later on, Modric could be offered an extension to his contract at the club.
Carlo Ancelotti was sacked as Napoli’s manager on Tuesday and Gennaro Gattuso has now replaced. The former Bayern Munich coach was really liked by the players, but Gattuso has a very furious personality and if his appointment means that he is in for a lengthy stay at the San Paolo Stadium then there is a chance of some key players leaving the club.
Do you think it’s a judicious move to sacrifice Modric for Koulibaly at this point in time given the Croat’s age and Valverde’s emergence into the starting eleven?
