Premier League giants Tottenham Hotspur are in need of signings ahead of 2020/21 and will hope for business with Real Madrid.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho managed to instantly turn things around in north London following his appointment last month. The club has now won three of its last four Premier League matches and even qualified for the Champions League. However, they do need some reinforcements and will look to Real Madrid for help, Football London claims.

Jose Mourinho already knows the Spanish giants’ directors very well from his stint with the club. James Rodriguez and Mariano Diaz are the two players who are wanted by the former Manchester United manager at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and by how things have progressed with them, Madrid may not stand in their way if an offer comes calling.

Los Blancos as it is will reportedly need to sell players worth 170 million euros in 2020 to avoid financial sanctions as per several reports, and they may be able to earn some cash out of Tottenham for two promising players. Jose Mourinho will certainly offer them more playing time than Zinedine Zidane and at the moment, that’s most important for the duo.

Christian Eriksen is likely to depart Tottenham on a free transfer during the summer, but Dele Alli’s re-emergence has meant that the Lilywhites may not feel the impact of Eriksen’s exit by a great lot. Nevertheless, Jose Mourinho wants a number 10 who is dynamic and will help in the defending as much as while going forward.

Real Madrid’s James Rodriguez may not have fitted the bill a few months ago, but since returning to Spain from Bayern Munich, his work rate has changed for the better and even though he has only one goal so far this season, James’ overall involvement in the build-ups and even while regaining possession of the ball has been crucial for Zidane’s side.

Mariano Diaz on the other hand is looked like a backup for Harry Kane. Fernando Llorente was at the club for a short duration and did his thing, but as for now, Kane is the only natural striker that Spurs have. Mariano is a flamboyant player with great desire for the ball and will be the perfect man for Jose Mourinho’s system.

Neither James Rodriguez nor Mariano Diaz are expected to be a part of Zinedine Zidane’s plans for the longer term. While the Colombian midfielder did have his minutes earlier on in the season, Federico Valverde has been superb for the Merengues since James’ injury and there doesn’t seem to be a way back for a player who was never too liked by Zidane.

Karim Benzema has been unstoppable for the 13 time European champions this season, while Luka Jovic has been his backup. Mariano has not featured for Zidane’s side for even a single minute so far this season and hence, a move to Tottenham could be great for his progress given that he is only 26 years old now.
