LB: Alex Sandro 8/10

It was quite the up and down first half for Alex Sandro. It started with a great cross-field ball he played to Paulo Dybala, which set up Dybala’s incredible finish. Then he tried to dribble out of his own end, losing the ball to Sampdoria, leaving Juve’s defense scrambling.

He managed to recover and make a tackle in the box, but that tackle sent the ball directly back to Sampdoria in the box, setting up their goal. Then he played an absolutely perfect cross to set up Ronaldo’s match-winning header.

The second half was much less eventful for him, but the first half was enough to consider this a good day for Sandro, even with his error. Hopefully we’ll keep seeing this attacking version of Sandro for the rest of the season.

CB: Merih Demiral 7/10

Merih Demiral put in another strong performance on Wednesday. He made a few key tackles and interceptions and didn’t give Sampdoria any openings to score. We saw some of his wildness in this match in an early challenge that some referees may have deemed a penalty. We also saw it in a couple of clashes with Sampdoria’s attackers.

Still, he played well enough that we can expect to see him finally get the playing time he had been hoping for and hopefully that is enough to keep him from trying to leave in January.

CB: Leonardo Bonucci 7/10

There isn’t much to say about Bonucci’s performance in this match that I haven’t already said after just about every match Juve has played this season. He was once again strong at the back and led Juve to another win. This defense is going to get very interesting when Chiellini comes back because he’ll be added to a defense that already has 3 center backs playing well.

RB: Danilo 5.5/10

This wasn’t Danilo’s best match. He lost the ball in Juve’s end early in the match, but was bailed out by Demiral. That was really the only memorable involvement he had in this match. It shouldn’t be enough to keep him in the starting lineup over Juan Cuadrado. Juve has problems at right back and they’ll need to find a way to fix them before the next round of the Champions League.
