Aaron Ramsey 6/10

Aaron Ramsey was able to show flashes of his talent once again as a substitute, but these displays unfortunately won’t mean much until he shows that he can consistently join the starting lineup.

Douglas Costa 6/10

Unlike Ramsey, Costa didn’t show much during his time on the field. Like Ramsey, it doesn’t really matter because he hasn’t shown the ability to stay healthy throughout this season. Maybe we’ll get to see more out of him on Sunday.

Mattia De Sciglio Inc.

Normally, a defensive player coming on as a substitute in a match their team is winning would have plenty of opportunities to make a difference. That wasn’t the case in this match as Sampdoria struggled to maintain any kind of meaningful possession even as they tried to get back in the match. That left Mattia De Sciglio without much to do in his substitute appearance.

Manager: Maurizio Sarri 9/10

I stand firmly behind Maurizio Sarri’s decision to move Paulo Dybala into the trequartista role as Juve had struggled all season to find a reliable playmaker who could remain healthy and take that role over. I’m very happy with his decision to finally start trusting Merih Demiral with meaningful playing time.

I also believe that he has Juve starting to turn a corner as their level of play in these last 3 matches has clearly been superior to the couple of months that preceded them. If he can keep Juventus trending in this direction then he might actually be able to turn them into the contender fans were hoping for before the season started. We are finally starting to see Juve turn into what we expected when they brought Sarri in.
