Manchester United have been issued a strong warning by Real Madrid over a potential January transfer for midfielder Paul Pogba…

Manchester United’s star midfielder Paul Pogba has long been linked with a move to Real Madrid and the Old Trafford club are seemingly open for a potential transfer that sees the Frenchman leave the club. Zinedine Zidane has long been an admirer of Paul Pogba and wanted him at the club during his first stint at Real Madrid. The World Cup winner was touted to join Los Blancos but he ended up leaving Juventus to go back to Manchester United in 2016. After 3 somewhat successful seasons at United, where Pogba has featured 148 times scoring and assisting 31 times, the club now seems to have finally made the decision to let their star player go.

As per reports from El Desmarque, Manchester United are more inclined towards the idea of letting Paul Pogba leave the club in the summer but Real Madrid want to do everything they can to change that decision. The Red Devils don’t want to let the player leave in the midst of this season and that is something Real Madrid are not happy with. Manager Zidane and club president Florentino Perez have not been shy to show their appreciation for Pogba and since his return to the club, Zidane has made it clear to Perez that he wants Pogba at Santiago Bernabeu.

Real Madrid had made an attempt to sign Pogba during the summer before the start of this season however the move never went through. Real Madrid went on to sign superstars like Eden Hazard, Luka Jovic and Eder Militao but for Zidane, Pogba seems to be the missing piece in the squad. With Gareth Bale’s situation at Real Madrid being extremely complicated, Manchester United are reportedly even open to the idea of Madrid including the Welshman in a  deal for Pogba. To add tot he drama, Manchester United’s reluctance to not sell in January has forced Real Madrid to issue a strong warning to the Red Devils that they would be making an official bid for the Frenchman in January in an attempt to get United to alter their stance.

Pogba, whose contract expires in the summer of 2021, has not featured for United since September after suffering an ankle injury and many reports say that he might have played his last game for United. Pogba, earlier, has also hinted at wanting to leave Man United and with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer saying that he wants only those players in the squad that want to stay at the club, the doors for a potential exit for Pogba seem to be open now. With the Red Devils now supposedly even close to securing the services of Erling Haaland from RB Salzburg, as per DailyMail, Pogba’s exit seems more likely.
