Michy Batshuayi needs to leave Chelsea to showcase his skills and reach new heights in his career…

Michy Batshuayi is one of the most talented strikers in all of Europe, yet he has never been given a chance to put his skills on display at Chelsea. The Blues purchased the Belgian international from French outfit Marseille in the summer of 2016 for a fee of £33.2m, but they are not utilizing him like a player worth that much money.

So far this season, Batshuayi has only made twelve appearances for Chelsea and has only featured as a substitute. In total, Batshuayi has been on the pitch for a mere 119 minutes. The 26-year-old striker has been loaned out on three separate occasions.

Aside from a poor loan stint in La Liga with Valencia, Batshuayi had an immediate impact at Borussia Dortmund in 2017 and was a top player at Crystal Palace from January to May of 2019.

More from Chelsea FC

For Borussia Dortmund, Batshuayi scored seven goals in ten Bundesliga appearances and added two more goals to his tally in the Europa League. In January of 2019, Batshuayi was loaned out to Crystal Palace and quickly became an integral player that helped them comfortably escape a tight relegation battle. The Belgian striker played scored five goals in eleven Premier League games for Roy Hodgson’s side and also found the back of the net in league cup action.

With such a positive track record, it is a mystery as to why Frank Lampard has kept Batshuayi out of the starting lineup. Batshuayi was determined to win his place in the starting eleven at the start of the season seeing that Chelsea would be heavily dependent on young, unproven players due to the transfer ban imposed by FIFA, but Lampard has stuck with Tammy Abraham.

Yes, Abraham is in top form with eleven goals, but he has only scored one goal in his last five games and Lampard continues to keep Batshuayi on the bench. That being said, Batshuayi needs to submit a transfer request. Several teams across Europe’s top five leagues would be interested in securing his services, especially since he is currently in his prime.

Another loan move in January would help him get more playing time, but he does not need another temporary move away from Stamford Bridge. The talented striker deserves a permanent move to a notable club where he can prove that he can excel in the role of serving as a primary striker.

With the January transfer window opening in a few days, it will be interesting to see what happens with Batshuayi. A loan move could be on the cards, but a permanent move is what he needs to save his wasted career.
