For the second time in 3 years, Juventus fell short against Lazio in the Supercoppa Italiana.

It started early on with Mattia De Sciglio getting burned on the wing and allowing a cross to be sent into the box. That cross found Sergej Milinkovic-Savic at the far post, who played the ball into the middle of the box, where Luis Alberto got on the end of it and put Lazio ahead. Juve answered before the end of the half when Cristiano Ronaldo‘s shot was saved toward Paulo Dybala who shot it into an empty net on the rebound. The match would head to halftime tied.

In the second half, it took a while for either time to create a dangerous chance, but once Lazio did, they took over the match. When Marco Parolo sent a cross to the far post, Juan Cuadrado left his side of the box completely unguarded and Senad Lulic easily scored as Wojciech Szczesny was scrambling across the goal.

Juventus tried to find an equalizer, but instead, it would end up being Lazio who scored the next and final goal of the match. With stoppage time expiring, Szczesny stopped a Lazio breakaway, but Lazio got the rebound and Rodrigo Bentancur committed a foul to get his second yellow card of the match. Bentancur was sent off and Danilo Cataldi scored an absolutely perfect free kick, giving Lazio their second 3-1 win over Juventus in 15 days.

GK: Wojciech Szczesny 5/10

Juventus gave up 3 goals to Lazio again, but Wojciech Szczesny wasn’t quite as impressive this time around. He did manage to make a nice save at the end of the game, but Bentancur’s foul and an incredible free kick rendered that save pretty meaningless. This was another instance where Szczesny can’t really be blamed for any of the goals that Lazio scored, but he just didn’t really do anything impressive enough to counteract the goals in this match.
