CM: Blaise Matuidi 5/10

I’m sure it won’t come as a surprise to anybody that I thought Blaise Matuidi was disappointing again in this match. He repeatedly stopped any kind of momentum Juve had in building their attack and continues to not really have a purpose in the squad. Sarri now gets a couple of weeks to decide if Matuidi will be holding on to this starting spot going forward and it shouldn’t come as a surprise if he is sent to the bench shortly after the break.

CM: Miralem Pjanic 6.5/10

Miralem Pjanic did his job distributing the ball in this match as the hub of the midfield. He just wasn’t able to distribute it anywhere that put Juve into position to score. I’m not saying he played badly, he was just underwhelming. Maurizio Sarri is supposed to be bringing the best out of him, but we didn’t see it in this match. Maybe a couple weeks of practice without preparing for a specific match will help him have more influence in the future.

CM: Rodrigo Bentancur 4/10

This grade isn’t because Rodrigo Bentancur was particularly bad in this match. He was pretty average right up until the end of his time on the field. Instead, this grade is because he wasn’t particularly good and took an unnecessary second yellow card that will force him to miss Juve’s next match. Bentancur has become an important part of this Juve midfield and now they’ll be forced to take on a team in the league’s top 5 without him. Outside of that, he really didn’t have much of an impact on this match, which is a disappointment after how well he had begun to play earlier in the month.
