#6 Paul Pogba (£89 million from Juventus in 2016)

Possibly the most controversial transfer on this list, Paul Pogba made headlines when he broke the transfer record to return to his boyhood club from Juventus.

Its been far from smooth-sailing since then. He’s always put in impressive performances when called upon, but Pogba’s commitment always seems to be under question, least of all thanks to his agent Mino Raiola.

Real Madrid, Barcelona and Juventus have been constantly circling. Injuries haven’t helped either, with the rumor mill claiming that the Frenchman has been deliberately trying to delay his return to secure a transfer away from Old Trafford.

But you certainly can’t accuse him of being unprofessional. In spite of the constant scrutiny, Pogba rarely speaks out about his future, and is almost always United’s best player when he’s on the pitch.

Last weekend, he appeared only as a second half substitute and still managed to create more chances than the rest of his teammates put together.

With Solskjær claiming that the 26-year-old will not leave in January, fans can heave a sigh of relief that they can rely on him for the second half of the season. With United’s forwards beginning to display some good form, the Red Devils can benefit a lot by a having an elite creator like Pogba on the pitch.

United are being linked with big money playmakers like James Maddison and Jack Grealish. If Pogba can get back to his best and avoid injury, he’d save the club a ton of money.

He may not have lived up to his transfer fee, but one can only imagine where United would be without his vital contributions in the last 3 years.
