Ernesto Valverde and Barcelona may have been given a huge boost as one of his coveted targets has admitted he wants to leave in January.

Barcelona have long been renowned for their tendency to bring back some of their former players. Especially those who have impressed in the club’s academy in La Masia. From the likes of Gerard Pique to Gerard Deulofeu and so on and so forth, it has been a tradition which has been thoroughly successful at Barcelona.

Bringing in a player who already knows the club can be hugely beneficial. Often recruits struggle during the initial period when they have to settle into a new country, city and also learn a new system. When you bring players who are already familiar with those aspects it makes the transition smoother and brings quicker rewards.

Often fans tend to admire these players even more. Having spent time in the club’s academy they value that bond and connection the player has with the club.

Therefore one can see why Barcelona are prone to bringing back their former players and it seems Ernesto Valverde could be repeating the formula once more.

The Spanish coach has targeted Dinamo Zagreb star Dani Olmo as a potential signing in January who spent seven years in the club’s academy as a youngster.

Now Ernesto Valverde has been given a huge boost. Speaking to Spanish outlet Jugones via Goal.com Dani Olmo has admitted that after the Champions League campaign he has endured with Dinamo Zagreb his ‘cycle’ with the Croatian side may be ‘over.’

Such comments will be music to the ears of the Barcelona boardroom and Ernesto Valverde. Dani Olmo has made his intentions clear; he wants to leave Dinamo.

And Barcelona could be his perfect next destination. The Catalans are in need of a creative spark and more options going forward. Often Ernesto Valverde has had to rely on 16 year old Ansu Fati to come in to the side and Dani Olmo could take the pressure off the youngster with his arrival.

The Spanish international is clearly a huge talent who scored on his senior debut for Spain and has been on stellar form in the Champions League this season.

Now a return beckons and Dani Olmo will be hoping to bring his great run of form to the Nou Camp.
