Borussia Dortmund have signed teenage prodigy Erling Braut Haaland from RB Salzburg for a cut-price of €20 million.

According to Goal, the Norwegian has signed a contract with Dortmund till summer 2024. Signing Haaland for a modest sum of €20 million is a steal for the Germans. The ex-Molde man has lit up Europe with his dazzling goalscoring exhibitions with Salzburg this season, leaving some of the biggest clubs in world football to chase after for his signature.

Whenever Apple releases a new iPhone, there’s an enormous flock of ebullient people who rush to get their hands on the technological beauty. Similar is the case of Erling Braut Haaland. Haaland announced himself on the world stage after scoring a hattrick on his Champions League debut against Genk. The European top dogs started to notice and jumped into the market for the starlet.

Since then, he has gone onto score a total of 8 goals in the Champions League and in total 28 goals in 22 games across all competitions. Juventus, RB Leipzig, Manchester United and Borussia Dortmund were in a four way race to sign one of Europe’s hottest properties. Ultimately, BVB beat off competition from others.

The Red Devils appeared to be frontrunners to nab Haaland. The 19-year-old also took a trip to Manchester and had reportedly met with United’s representatives to discuss a possible move. Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had worked with the wonder kid at Molde and Haaland too was upbeat for a reunification. However, Dortmund had the last laugh and Haaland is now ready to light up the Bundesliga. Here are three reasons why Haaland snubbed Manchester United and chose Borussia Dortmund as his next club.
