1.      Dortmund have an excellent track record in developing young talent

The German club continues to be an excellent incubation centre for developing young talent. Jadon Sancho, Christian Pulisic and Ousmane Dembele can attest.

Sancho left Manchester City in the first place to get better playing opportunities. Since his arrival at Westfalenstadion, the Englishman has played 79 games and notched 26 goals and further provided 36 assists.

Just like Haaland, Sancho came in at a young age of 17 and in less than two seasons he has become one of the fiercest wingers in Europe. If Haaland needed proof that a prodigiously talented teenager can thrive at Signal Iduna Park, he did not need to look any further than his fellow 19-year-old teammate.

Die Schwarzgelben have a multi-dimensional set up to brew the young talent. At present they have a coach like Lucien Favre who is always keen to work with youngsters rather than declining players. Erling Braut Haaland has come to the right place to nurture his talent and polish his skills.

One of the greatest assets that the 19-year-old possesses which is a massive bonus to Dortmund is his adaptability. Although a striker, he can excel in just about every role a striker plays. When you see Paco Alcacer, who is a notorious striker with superb finishing qualities, wouldn’t make the most of it when played as a false 9 or as a secondary striker. Haaland, on the other hand, can link up very well and build the play.

Dortmund’s entire playing system depends on creativity and pace. When you look back, Dortmund over the years has had some ridiculous pace in the attack in the form of Sancho, Dembele, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.  Haaland might not be the fastest striker but is quick enough to suit Dortmund’s dash. The environment at BVB is picture-perfect for any youngster to develop into a world-class player.
