Arsenal will host Manchester United in the Premier League this evening…

It goes without saying that Manchester United are going through a much better patch of form than they experienced at the beginning of the season. Having only lost one match in their last six league matches, they face an Arsenal side that have won just one of their last six.

However, it would be difficult to dub either side as the favourite since this is a fixture which has proven there’s never a favourite throughout history. With that being said, let’s look at this match through a microscope to the different on-pitch battles we should anticipate…

1. Lucas Torreira vs Paul Pogba

For me, this is the most interesting tactical battle we should anticipate. Lucas Torreira has been given much more game time in Arteta’s early days and he was key to the impressive midfield performance displayed by Arsenal against Chelsea. He is a defensive midfielder who likes to win back possession for his side.

Paul Pogba, on the other hand, is an attacking midfielder who thrives in his creativity and loves to burst into the midfield third. Having recently come back from injury and impressing in his appearances since then, Torreira will have a tough ask on hid hands. Whoever wins this midfield battle of defence vs attack could win the match for their side.
