CAM: Paulo Dybala
Juventus has used a few options in the trequartista role over the last decade, but I don’t think anybody has contributed from that spot like Paulo Dybala has. He absolutely thrived in Juve’s 4-2-3-1 formation and even managed to score 22 goals in it while playing behind Gonzalo Higuain in one season. That season gave him 52 league goals in his first 3 seasons with the club before last season’s disaster, which was brought on by a change in formation that left him without anywhere that he really fit. He has since recovered his form and has now even returned to the trequartista role, where he is once again transforming Juve’s attack.
Whether it has been as a scorer or creator, no other player has impacted the second half of the decade for Juve like Dybala has and he should continue to be a difference maker for Juve during the next decade.
Honorable Mention: Paul Pogba
I’m sure this was a name that many of you were expecting to see in the starting 11, but I just couldn’t convince myself that he actually belonged in this squad based on his full body of work. First of all, Pogba was still developing early in his Juve career and certainly wasn’t the same player in year one that he was in year 4. The fact that he wasn’t at his absolute best for all 4 of his years with the team made it really difficult to put him over longer tenured players who had just as much impact on the team (Dybala and Marchisio) or players who spent similar amounts of time with he team, but dominated for their full time (Vidal and Pirlo).
I absolutely appreciate Pogba’s contributions to Juve during his time with the team and believe that the club wouldn’t have made their incredible 2014-15 run without him, but all I can give him on this all-decade team is an honorable mention.
