2. Sell more deadwood

Mourinho’s installation as Tottenham’s manager has made it very clear to a few players that they aren’t in the gaffer’s plans. Anyone not favored by Mourinho should be sold to the highest bidder this month.

The most obvious player to go is Victor Wanyama. He was a favourite of Mauricio Pochettino‘s before injuries started to erode his athleticism. At this point in his career, he lacks the mobility to play as a Premier League midfielder. He’s utterly useless to Spurs.

Perhaps he has value to another club. Tottenham would love to get any sort of significant fee for the Kenyan midfielder. In this activity, we’ll assume Spurs can find a taker for somewhere around £5 million.

Kyle Walker-Peters is another player who doesn’t have a future at Tottenham. Unlike Wanyama, he has the quickness and speed to be a productive player. It’s his lack of size that renders him useless to Mourinho. Spurs should be able to get another £5 million for his services.

The club might be willing to make some more moves around the edges, but assuming they can secure £10 million for some squad players is as far as we’re willing to go. For those of you keeping track, Tottenham now have £90 million to spend.
