Following the lifting of their transfer ban, Chelsea have a big task on their hands as they now need to sign a replacement for Eden Hazard.

Real Madrid reached an agreement with Chelsea last summer to make Eden Hazard’s highly anticipated signing for an undisclosed fee, rumoured to be around 100 million euros. In Eden Hazard, the Blues lost arguably their best player of his generation who is being gravely being missed in certain matches by Frank Lampard at the moment.

Eden Hazard was a big game player, but most importantly, he was one of those kind of figures who could carve out a goal out of nowhere and make the difference between a stalemate and one-goal win. Nevertheless, following a sub par start to the season, the west Londoners have to pick themselves up and try making an impact in the next five months.

Thankfully to their benefit, a transfer ban imposed upon them has been lifted, meaning they can sign players in the January transfer window too. Frank Lampard has decided to strengthen his defensive line and rightly so, because all the central defenders at his disposal have been pretty lacklustre and inconsistent to be honest.

Chelsea’s full backs have underperformed as well and only Cesar Azpilicueta has probably given his best on a consistent basis. Having said that, Marcos Alonso and Emerson Palmieri have both been poor as left backs, leaving Frank Lampard with no other option but to scout for players externally within as early as six months of taking over as head coach.

Lampard’s problems extend to the frontline as well where his inexperienced crop of players struggles to convert chances and kill off matches. While Abraham, Pulisic and Mount are all exquisite players, they lack the experience required to play in the bigger outings, whereas Willian and Pedro are not potent goal scorers as such.

With Chelsea set to focus on the arrival of an attacker to replace Eden Hazard’s quality, we have a look at their best potential options.
