Promising Young Talent

It has been a while since Juve’s future looked so bright. Since the start of their recent run of Serie A dominance, they have mostly relied on older talents like Andrea Pirlo, Cristiano Ronaldo, and the BBC defense to lead the squad. However, that has begun to change this season.

It all started with Juve addressing their center back issues over the summer. When they signed 21 year old Merit Demiral and 20 year old Matthijs de Ligt, they went from having a shockingly old

defense, to suddenly having center backs who could start for this team for more than a decade.

They also added Adrien Rabiot, who became Juve’s second youngest midfielder. That was followed by a resurgence from Paulo Dybala, who just recently turned 26. Then, Rodrigo Bentancur once again became a key part of Juve’s midfield, perhaps even more than last year. Now, Juve has gotten even younger, adding Dejan Kulusevski (even though he won’t join until this summer).

The year 2020 will give us a chance to not only watch a very strong Juve squad for the present, but one that continues to develop into a squad that can threaten the best clubs in Europe for years to come.

Juve’s injury issues in the midfield should give us plenty of opportunities to watch Rabiot and Bentancur in the second half of the season and see how they continue to grow as members of this squad. Demiral’s great performances at the end of 2019 should also guarantee we see plenty of him over the next few months as well. De Ligt should continue to grow into his role at Juve and the last couple weeks of practice should help both center backs as they continue to acclimate to Juve’s style of defense. When you add Kulusevski to the mix, you can begin to see a very talented young core forming for Juve.
