CM: Blaise Matuidi 4.5/10

Maybe I’m missing something, but I really just don’t see Blaise Matuidi’s value in the Juve starting lineup anymore. He continues to provide absolutely nothing to the attack and the only defensive contribution he made in the match was blocking Aaron Ramsey’s attempt at a volley. It should only be a matter of time before he’s replaced by one of Rodrigo Bentancur, Emre Can, or Adrien Rabiot.

CM: Miralem Pjanic 7.5/10

There was no moment that particularly stood out for Miralem Pjanic in this match, but he was a key cog for the Juve attack. In the match, we got a clear look at Pjanic as the focal point of Juve’s midfield in the role Maurizio Sarri said we’d see him all year. He completed 126 passes in the match and helped Juve dominate possession throughout the day. He wasn’t able to make a decisive play in the match, but this is a good sign that we’ll be seeing more out of him the rest of the season.

CM: Adrien Rabiot 7/10

This wasn’t a flashy performance from Adrien Rabiot, but it was one of the first times he’s looked comfortable since joining Juventus, He was strong in possession and passed the ball well for Juve. Now that he is finally starting to fit in at Juve, it’s time for Sarri to start considering using him instead of Blaise Matuidi going forward. It is starting to look like putting him and Bentancur alongside Pjanic would give Juve their best midfield available. Hopefully we’ll be seeing more of Rabiot and less of Matuidi in the future.
