Arsenal: Arteta competes with rivals to sign world class striker

Mikel Arteta has already gotten the better of Manchester United as Arsenal boss…
Arsenal are starting to hit a good run of form under their new manager Mikel Arteta. After they turned over Manchester United in the Premier League, they saw off Leeds in the FA Cup on Monday night.
However, Mikel Arteta’s mind won’t be solely on the pitch at this point of time. Obviously, the January transfer window is in full swing and with Premier League clubs starting to make their first moves, the Spaniard will be keen to get in on the act himself.
According to The Metro, two English clubs have submitted offers for Paris Saint-Germain’s striker Edinson Cavani; those being Manchester United and Arsenal. The 32-year-old has been linked with a move away from the Parc des Princes many times before and it’s thought this January will be no different.

The Uruguayan international is struggling for form by his standards, scoring a subpar three goals in his last five appearances. In fact, so far this season, the striker has made only four starts and four appearances from the bench in Ligue 1.
Now may be the perfect time for the French giants to cash in on Cavani, especially given their financial fair play scares in recent years. To avoid facing the same penalty Chelsea did in the summer, they may wish to sell one or two of their star players this season.
Obviously, Thomas Tuchel finds himself in an awkward predicament this transfer window. Both Neymar and Kylian Mbappe are being linked with lucrative moves to La Liga. This could jeopardise the transfer of Edinson Cavani or could just mean it’s prolonged. The board would hope that the interest from these huge clubs doesn’t die out.
Cavani is an excellent finisher of the ball and what is even more impressive is his movement and spatial awareness. If you watch him off the ball, he often finds himself in acres of space which is criminal from his opposing defender because we all know what he’s capable of in front of goal.
Do you think Arsenal should continue their pursuit of Edinson Cavani?
