Juventus is riding high as they head to the Stadio Olimpico to take on Roma on Sunday.

They’ve won their last 3 Serie A matches, including their absolute dismantling of Calgiari on Monday. That match saw them win by their largest margin of the season (4-0) and featured a hat trick from Cristiano Ronaldo. Juve couldn’t have asked for a better way to remain atop the Serie A standings at the start of the new year.

2020 did not get off to such a great start for Roma. They looked to be turning into a contender for the top 4 as 2019 came to an end, winning 4 of their last 5 matches with the 5th match being a draw against 2nd place Inter. Unfortunately, they stumbled out of the gate to start the new year and lost at home against Torino. The loss didn’t knock Roma out of 4th place, but it did allow Lazio to move 4 points ahead of them in 3rd and Atalanta to climb within 1 point of them.

Juventus remains a bit shorthanded as they head to Italy’s capital. They’ll once again be without Rodrigo Bentancur because of his suspension and Matthijs de Ligt because of his shoulder injury. Giorgio Chiellini and Sami Khedira are still missing with long-term injuries, but everybody else should be ready for the match. Juventus will stay in their 4-3-1-2 formation for this match.

GK: Wojciech Szczesny

No surprises here. Wojciech Szczesny is always the first choice keeper for Juve, especially in a big match like this. I’m also pretty sure that Juve already has a date picked out for when Gianluigi Buffon is going to break Paolo Maldini’s record and that date is January 19th. I expect to see Buffon break the record against the club where he started his career, so I have even less doubt than usual that this will be a start for Wojciech Szczesny.
