Juventus player ratings vs Roma: Spectacular Dybala puts Juve back in 1st
By John Vaccaro
LB: Alex Sandro 6.5/10
This match was going great for Alex Sandro right until he gave away a penalty to Roma. That handball put a damper on a what was otherwise a very good performance. Roma was even actively trying to keep the ball off of his side of the field and attack on the right instead. Luckily the penalty didn’t prove too costly, but it will be the moment from this match that is remembered for Sandro.
CB: Merih Demiral 8/10
This was a bittersweet match for Merih Demiral and Juve fans as a whole. The match started so well. Demiral continued his great form with his first Juve goal in the 3rd minute. Unfortunately, he suffered a knee injury in the 19th minute. Hopefully he didn’t tear anything and will be able to return soon.
CB: Leonardo Bonucci 6/10
This was a pretty slow day for Leonardo Bonucci. He wasn’t called into action very frequently on the defensive end and Juve didn’t even take advantage of his passing ability all that often. I’m sure he has plenty of matches ahead where he’ll have more of an impact.
RB: Juan Cuadrado 5.5/10
This was not a good day for Juan Cuadrado. He didn’t offer anything on the attacking end and was bad enough defensively that Roma tried to play exclusively down his side at points in the second half. He was also flat-out lazy on the play where Roma scored their goal. He jogged back into the play and then waited in the box while Matthijs de Ligt ran out to cover Dzeko on Cuadrado’s wing. He was bad enough at right back that Sarri felt the need to bring on Danilo and send Cuadrado up to the wing. This may have been the match that costs Cuadrado his starting spot.
