CM: Blaise Matuidi 7/10

Anybody who reads these regularly knows that Blaise Matuidi has not been my favorite player this season. However, he was robbed of an assist by sloppy finishing from Ronaldo in the second half. He played a perfect cross that gave Ronaldo a fantastic opportunity to score a 3rd for Juve and put the match away. Matuidi was okay outside of that moment, but didn’t have too big of an impact anywhere else. I think he deserves some credit for his first impressive offense contribution in quite some time. Now let’s just hope this becomes a trend for him.

CM: Miralem Pjanic 5.5/10

This was poor performance for Miralem Pjanic against his former club. He made very little impact on the attacking end after Juve took their lead. In fact, he only had 69 touches over the course of the match, which is well below his average for the season. He also had that ridiculous pass across the top of Juve’s penalty area that probably should have been costlier for the squad. Things are supposed to be changing for Juve, led by Pjanic’s distribution, but that definitely wasn’t on display here.

CM: Adrien Rabiot 7.5/10

Much like Blaise Matuidi’s grade, Adrien Rabiot’s mostly comes down to one moment. Adrien Rabiot’s block in the first half ended making a huge difference in this match. Without it, Juve may very well have squandered their opportunity to retake first place in the league. This wasn’t a great day on the other end of the field for Rabiot (or the squad as a whole after the 10th minute), but this contribution and overall strong performance on the defensive end are enough to call this a good day for Rabiot. Hopefully he continues to build on these last few performances to keep himself in the starting lineup even when Juve’s midfield is back to full strength.
