Spain’s biggest clubs- Real Madrid and Barcelona- are set to lock horns in a bid to make a transfer for Manchester United’s in-form goal scorer.
Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane lifted his first trophy since returning to the club for his second tenure as manager. Los Blancos got the better of crosstown rivals Atletico Madrid in a rather one-sided penalty shootout after extra time ended in a 0-0 stalemate. Next up for the Whites is a stern home test versus Sevilla on the coming weekend.
Zidane is most likely to be without his in-form striker Karim Benzema and even Gareth Bale may be out of the clash against the Andalusian side. Luka Jovic will be leading the line once again unless there is a surprise start for Mariano, but the Serbia international has failed to take his chances in the Super Cup forcing his club to ponder over new striker options.
Diario GOL claims that Manchester United star Marcus Rashford has been established on the Merengues’ radar as they look to sign Karim Benzema’s long-term successor. The England international is having a brilliant campaign at the Old Trafford in spite of the team’s overall struggles and would certainly be a great addition to Real Madrid.
Marcus Rashford is thought to be valued at around 120 million euros, but in order to lessen the price they pay, Madrid are likely to offer 80 million as well as a player in exchange, with Gareth Bale, James Rodriguez and Isco among the likely candidates to make the switch to the home of the Premier League giants.
While Zidane’s side is also interested in signing Kylian Mbappe, who remains the prime target in the Spanish capital, Rashford is more of a central player whereas Mbappe specializes in coming in from the flanks and scoring goals, pretty much justifying Real Madrid’s interest in both the youngsters at once.
Barcelona are also looking at Marcus Rashford as a potential option for this summer as they look to sign a replacement for Luis Suarez, but Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martinez continues to be their prime option. With two of Spain’s biggest teams monitoring Rashford, it would be interesting to see what the future holds for the Englishman.
Do you see Marcus Rashford swapping the Premier League for a La Liga transfer?
