6 moves Juventus should make before the transfer window closes
By John Vaccaro
Juventus came out this week and said that it is unlikely they add to their squad this month, but I think that is a mistake.
Instead, I think they should sell off their expendable parts (they have a few even with their injury issues) and use those funds to bolster their squad before other teams are ready to bid against them and drive prices up over the summer. Here are 6 moves I think Juve should make this month:
Sign Sandro Tonali
One thing Juventus is lacking in their squad right now is a replacement for Morale Pjanic. This is true both short-term and long-term. However, they have already been linked with a move that could quickly solve both of these problems.
A rumor surfaced last month that Juventus was going to try to sign Sandro Tonali this winter before a bidding war started over him during the summer. There has been no follow to the rumor that would indicate they’ve made any progress on the move, but this should be a move that they are focusing on making right now.
Tonali is one of the most promising young prospects in all of Europe right now and that has garnered the attention of a few other teams. He is seen as the heir to Andrea Pirlo on the Italian national team and could be the heir to Pirlo on Juventus too (Pjanic never quite filled those shoes). Tonali has shown the passing quality of Pirlo and even the breathtaking free kicks that filled Pirlo’s highlight reels. The free kick he scored against Genoa was absolutely ridiculous. He has shown off his talents throughout this season in spite of the fact that he plays for an awful Brescia squad. I can only imagine what he would be able to accomplish if he was surrounded by the talent at Juve.
Juventus should bring him in as quickly as possible before his price rises any more or before somebody else can lure him away, especially with Inter being one of the other squads interested in Tonali. I hope to see Italy’s brightest young start in a Juve uniform by the time February rolls around.
