6 moves Juventus should make before the transfer window closes
By John Vaccaro
Sign Hakim Ziyech
If Juventus either can’t land Eriksen or for some reason isn’t interested in signing him, then they should still be pursuing somebody who can bring an attacking spark to their midfield. Hakim Ziyech should be the next option they look at to fill that role.
Juventus got to see firsthand how dangerous Hakim Ziyech is when his Ajax squad eliminated Juve from the Champions League and has only continued to put in impressive performances since then. He has already registered 6 goals and 12 assists in the Eredivisie this season and added 2 goals and 4 assists in the Champions League in spite of Ajax’s drop to the Europa League.
At Juve he could play either as a trequartista or a mezzala and give Juve a dynamic attacking option that could dependably start. He comes with all of the benefits of signing Christian Eriksen, but he would definitely come with a lower price tag. Ajax doesn’t really have anything to make Ziyech want to stay anymore. They were knocked out of the Champions League this year and he is simply too good to continue playing in the Eredivisie. There was also a rumor over the summer that he had a laughably low release clause in his contract.
There is also one more added benefit of signing Ziyech. He has a history playing with Matthijs de Ligt, which would make his transition into the squad smoother and would probably help to keep de Ligt happy at Juve and help him continue to get comfortable with his new club.
This move obviously only makes sense if Juve doesn’t land Eriksen, but I would absolutely be okay with this alternative. In fact, I’d probably favor the Ziyech move if Ajax were openly discussing his availability like Tottenham is doing with Eriksen.
Ziyech has knocked Juve out of one Champions League. Now I’d like to see him be a part of the Juve squad that ends their CL curse.
