6 moves Juventus should make before the transfer window closes
By John Vaccaro
Sign Donny van de Beek
I’ve written a lot over the last year and a half about Juve’s need for a midfielder who could bolster the attack that they’ve been missing since Paul Pogba left. However, I’ve neglected something during that time. Juve never replaced Arturo Vidal either.
Vidal’s energy and talent on both ends of the field was a key piece of what I believe was Juve’s best chance to win the Champions League in the last decade. He completed their elite midfield on that 2014-15 squad and Juve has missed what he brought to the table ever since. They tried to

replace him with Blaise Matuidi, who performed admirably on the defensive end, but has never been on that level in the attacking half.
To finally fix this issue, I believe that they should sign Donny van de Beek from Ajax. He could be interested in a move away from Ajax for the same reasons I believe Ziyech should be and he comes with some of the same benefits. Ajax’s price tags on their players don’t tend to be overly ridiculous (de Ligt’s price was huge, but reasonable). He would also immediately have chemistry with at least one of his teammates (two if Juve signed Ziyech too).
This one will be a little bit tougher for Juve to make happen because van de Beek would be an expensive transfer even if Ajax doesn’t inflate his price. Juve would need to make a few sales during this month to make it happen (which I think they should do anyway), but I think he is the piece that would absolutely put them over the top and make them Champions League contenders. That 2014-15 midfield should be the template they follow to get themselves to the promise land that they fell just short of against one of the most prolific attacks we’ve ever seen. I think van de Beek is the perfect player to help Juve recreate the magic of that season.
