Arsenal risk losing first team striker to La Liga this January
By Kian Long
Arsenal are in for a busy final half of the January transfer window, that’s for sure. However, new manager Mikel Arteta won’t want to worry about players leaving…
Having scored 29 goals this season, Arsenal can be pretty content with their attacking input. It’s their defence which has let them down, conceding an inexcusable 31 goals. This was partly the reason why Mikel Arteta was brought in at the helm of the Emirates Stadium, to implement an attacking philosophy which required an organised defence.
He seems to have focused the majority of his early tactics on the attack. It makes the most sense too since Arsenal are very attack-orientated. The likes of Mesut Ozil, Nicolas Pepe, Alexandre Lacazette and, of course, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang have all improved under Arteta. That said, the Spaniard wouldn’t want to lose any of his attackers.
However, according to a report from Sky Sports, Arsenal could be at risk of losing Alexandre Lacazette in this transfer window. The report claims that he is an “option” for Atletico Madrid, a club which showed great interest in him a few seasons ago while they were transfer banned.

The situation regarding Alexandre Lacazette is an interesting one. There seems to be a growing number of fans that are turning against him and it’s easy to see why. The Frenchman has missed a few good opportunities at important times lately, including against Norwich and most recently against Crystal Palace. Although, there wasn’t much he could do with the Palace ‘keeper coming out at full throttle to block the shot.
However, since his arrival in North London, Lacazette has been an important and mainly prolific talisman. His game revolves around his hard work and tenacity to win back possession for his side. This is emphasised in the high-pressing system Arteta has going for him. He is also a good finisher, despite what recent misses would suggest.
Having Lacazette in his XI will be a worthwhile mission for Arteta so he will try his best to keep the Frenchman content. The good news is, Lacazette will only be chased by Atletico Madrid should they fail in their pursuit of Edinson Cavani.
Do you think Arsenal should sell Alexandre Lacazette this month?
