Jesse Lingard finally finds a route out of Manchester United
Manchester United and Jesse Lingard could ultimately part ways after the player’s super-agent Mino Raiola has found likely destinations for him.
In spite of having probably the worst year of his career in 2019, Jesse Lingard has continued to occupy a starter’s role with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. But that may be about to change with the imminent arrival of Sporting Lisbon’s attacking midfielder Bruno Fernandes to Manchester United in the upcoming days.
Jesse Lingard had no goal or assist in the Premier League throughout the whole of last year, which is an abysmal statistic for a player making millions of pounds and playing a key role in the Red Devils’ squad. He is no more wanted at the club by at least the fans and has now been offered to as many as four Serie A clubs by Mino Raiola, Express has claimed.
AC Milan, AS Roma, Inter Milan and Napoli have been identified as the four clubs which have been touted to be potential destinations for the England international. There is a possibility of a move in as early as January, but currently, all signs are currently pointing towards a transfer only in the summer’s window.
Both the clubs in Milan are not in much need of an attacking midfielder, but if there is one of them who would benefit even a bit by his services, it’d be Inter Milan. Antonio Conte is set to lose Matteo Politano to Roma, so Lingard would be a good addition to the former Chelsea boss’ side competing in the Serie A, Coppa Italia and Europa League.
Napoli also don’t require much potion in their squad but wouldn’t mind having Lingard in their roster, but a lot depends on how much transfer fees Manchester United demand and what kind of wage the player is looking for as well. But for the time being, Gennaro Gattuso seems to be pretty content with his squad as well.
Roma could be the best beneficiary of the bunch given that they have most recently lost Nicolo Zaniolo to an ACL injury and he wouldn’t be returning to the squad until late this year. For a competing for the midtable spots, Jesse Lingard would be a good signing and even the player would not be under pressure to deliver very consistently.
