With goal scoring being an issue at some points of the season, Real Madrid are wanting to find a solution once and for all by investing big.

Real Madrid lifted their first trophy of the decade with a convincing display over two matches in the Spanish Super Cup at Saudi Arabia. Considering the fact that the Whites went into the competition without Karim Benzema, Gareth Bale and Eden Hazard, they did pretty well to come up on top against Valencia and Atletico Madrid.

Karim Benzema is the top scorer for Zinedine Zidane’s side, but he is now ageing while Luka Jovic, who performed pretty well in the Super Cup, is yet to convince Zidane into making him play regularly. For the time being, the Frenchman is looking for someone to succeed Benzema and a player capable of playing in the box is exactly who he is looking for.

Eden Hazard’s signing means that the Merengues will have a huge amount of creativity throughout the final third, meaning Benzema’s exclusion at times may not be too harmful for the build-up play. Kylian Mbappe is also being targeted and the youngster, who prefers playing on the right wing is an overall package not requiring much description.

Diario GOL claims that Los Blancos have shortlisted Mauro Icardi as their ideal choice. The Argentinian is currently on loan with Paris Saint-Germain but is originally a property of Inter Milan. While the Ligue 1 giants will almost certainly want to sign him up permanently, the Whites are keen on snapping up on Icardi by making a bigger and better offer.

Mauro Icardi has been ruled out by Antonio Conte from his plans at Inter Milan, meaning that his future definitely lies away from the San Siro. For a player who is on bad terms with Lionel Messi and Barcelona, the Santiago Bernabeu may be a superb destination to play at given the current squad as well as the crop of younger players in development.

Los Blancos were even monitoring Mauro Icardi following Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure, but there were several questions asked about Wanda Nara’s involvement in his footballing life. But it seems like things have improved now, even economically since Icardi has dropped to 80 million euros in value, 30 million less than some months ago despite possessing quality.

Do you think the Merengues would land Mauro Icardi at the end of the season?
