Mikel Arteta is having a mixed start to life as Arsenal boss but a few things have remained consistently positive…

When Mikel Arteta was unveiled as the manager of Arsenal, succeeding the former Spaniard Unai Emery, most people knew what he would bring. Having been a spectator of Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, Arteta claimed from the get-go that he would bring an attacking philosophy and he would be strict with the players so they achieved their ultimate potential.

One player who has benefited from the arrival of the new manager is Mesut Ozil. This is interesting because the German playmaker was rumoured to move away from the club this transfer window.

Here are five reasons why Mikel Arteta should keep him…

1. Mesut Ozil is finally happy again

It’s not rocket science that morale can determine performance. Just like in real life, if a player is down in the dumps then he is not going to perform to the best of his ability. Under Unai Emery, Ozil was a frequent absentee of the matchday squad, often not even appearing on the bench.

But Arteta came in and invested plenty of trust in his former teammate, hence his spike in performances of late. It is for this reason that The Mirror report Ozil is “happy with everything” under Arteta.

If Ozil is happy, then everybody is happy since he is often the focal point of play in Arsenal’s setup. This is just one reason why Arsenal must keep ahold of him.
