Juventus player ratings vs Udinese: Dominant Dybala sends Juve to Coppa Italia quarterfinals
By John Vaccaro
LB: Alex Sandro 7/10
This was actually one of Alex Sandro’s better performances of the season. The defense didn’t have much to do in this match, but Sandro did have a nice match on the attacking end and even nearly scored. He also provided a cross that led to Juve’s second penalty. Hopefully this is a sign of things to come because Juve has been missing his attacking contributions this season.
CB: Daniele Rugani 7/10
Daniele Rugani wasn’t really tested on the defense end in the match. He did fine when he was called upon, but that rarely happened. He nearly scored in this match, putting ahead off the post and drew Juve’s second penalty. It was nice to see Rugani able to be deployed without being an issue for the squad. That might need to become a more common occurrence in the near future.
CB: Matthijs de Ligt 6.5/10
Matthijs de Ligt was also not asked to do very much in this match and also almost scored a goal of his own. He collected a poor shot and fired it goanward, forcing a save out of Udinese’s keeper. That save rebound to Gonzalo Higuain, who easily scored, but de Ligt was eventually ruled offside. This match was a nice way to get a full 90 minutes under his belt after spending a lot of time out while rehabbing his shoulder.
RB: Danilo 6/10
In a match where defense wasn’t really needed from Juve, Danilo was the least influential of Juve’s defenders. He didn’t have much of an impact on the attack, which really limited his effectiveness in the match. He should still get the start here in Juve’s next match, but this wasn’t exactly a performance that separated him from Juan Cuadrado.
