LB: Alex Sandro

Alex Sandro showed flashes of the attacking prowess I’ve been waiting all season to see. He didn’t end up collecting a goal or an assist for his efforts, but he clearly made the Juve attack more dangerous than what we’ve gotten used to seeing this season. Parma is another squad who shouldn’t pose a huge threat to Juve’s defense, so I’m hoping Sandro will continue to push forward in this match and make it a habit for the rest of the season.

CB: Leonardo Bonucci

Leonardo Bonucci got a deserved rest on Wednesday, but we know Juve tries to never be without their captain for too long (although I believe they’ll give Buffon the armband for this occasion). Bonucci has become more important than ever for this Juve squad as another of their center backs was significantly injured last weekend. Let’s hope he can continue his high level of play as this defense tries to cope with all of its injuries.

CB: Matthijs de Ligt

Matthijs de Ligt looked to have lost his grip on this spot in the lineup thanks to the impressive play of Merih Demiral, but Demiral’s season-ending injury has put de Ligt right back into the starting lineup. He’ll need to step up big time over the next few weeks if he wants to keep this job with Giorgio Chiellini supposedly returning in February. He can start with a strong performance against Parma.

RB: Danilo

Juan Cuadrado has been serving as Juve’s starting right back for most of the season, but I think he might have lost the job last weekend when Maurizio Sarri had to sub Danilo on to take over defensive duties because Roma continuously targeted Cuadrado’s area of the field. I haven’t been particularly impressed with Danilo this season, but the fact that Sarri couldn’t trust Cuadrado to finish the match tells me that he’s losing faith in his makeshift right back. Maybe this will be the turning point for Danilo where he shows us that Juve wasn’t wrong to sign him in the first place. Maybe we’ll be begging to have Juan Cuadrado back by the end of Sunday’s match. I guess we’ll find out soon either way.
