Arsenal: What will Layvin Kurzawa offer to Mikel Arteta?
By Kian Long
It didn’t take the new Arsenal boss long…
Many were sceptical of Mikel Arteta when he was first unveiled as Arsenal manager. Yes, he had spent a few seasons under the wing of Pep Guardiola at Manchester City but what real experience did he have? He had no first-hand experience of transfer windows, for one, which would be important since at the time of his unveiling, the new year was just around the corner.
Now we are just over halfway through the January transfer window and the Spaniard is yet to make his first signing as Arsenal manager. There’s no rush though since most Premier League clubs like leaving their deals until the second half of the window and I’m sure he will have plenty of options lined up.
According to France Football, Layvin Kurzawa is set to join Arsenal in the summer on a free transfer. The Paris Saint-Germain left-back has been out of favour thus far in Ligue 1, making just five starts and six appearances from the bench in the French top flight. As a 27-year-old approaching the prime stages of his career, he would be expecting much more game time.

With that being said, the most important question is how well will he fit into this Arsenal XI? The club does not necessarily have a shortage of left-back options but they could do with him coming in now. Both Kieran Tierney and Sead Kolasinac are nursing injuries which has left Bukayo Saka playing out of position to fill the void.
Kurzawa is a versatile full-back who, like the current Arsenal options, love to progress with the ball at their feet. He is very skilful and likes to link up with the left-winger, something which Arsenal fans grew used to when watching Nacho Monreal. He has a good range of pass too, either utilising his through ball abilities or playing a low cross into his attacker.
He is also very good at cutting out runs from his opposing winger. He is physically demanding and likes to engage in aerial duels, something which will come as a huge relief to Arsenal fans. If there’s anyone that can stop the cross before it’s even happened, it’s Kurzawa.
Do you think Layvin Kurzawa would be a good addition for Arsenal?
