Chelsea are planning to land a player or two in January and may be making a move for a player that has been on Barcelona’s wish-list since a while.

Frank Lampard had to see his Chelsea side taste another defeat in the Premier League after Newcastle United scored right at the death to steal all three points on Saturday evening’s clash at the St. James’ Park. While the defending would have certainly frustrated the Englishman, the fact that his side didn’t score despite dominating would’ve been harder to digest.

Eden Hazard would be the difference maker in such tight matches by creating a large number of chances or finishing some of them, but the Blues are lacking a player of that quality right now. Having had their transfer ban lifted, the Stamford Bridge club are looking at a winger’s signing in this month itself.

Jadon Sancho and Wilfried Zaha have been linked with the club, but Football London has claimed that Dani Olmo is a late addition to the Blues’ shopping list. Dani Olmo is a former Barcelona academy product, currently on the books of Dinamo Zagreb where he has been enjoying a spectacular spell since the last year or two.

Barca have themselves shown interest in signing the youngster, but were put off by the 35 million pounds’ demand by his parent club, which seems to have kept Chelsea in the running nevertheless. The Blues have reportedly made a bid of 34 million pounds and are hopeful that they are favoured in the hunt ahead of even AC Milan.

While there is no doubt about Dani Olmo’s quality, it is a highly stupid move from Chelsea to spend in excess of 30 million pounds on a player like him who has absolutely no experience at playing in any of the top European leagues. Having monitored options like Sancho and Zaha, the Blues would make a ludicrous spending by bringing in the Spaniard.

Is Dani Olmo a player that has the calibre to play for Chelsea at this point in time?
