Juventus extended their lead at the top of Serie A on Sunday and now must turn their attention back to advancing through the Coppa Italia.

They’ll do so against a familiar foe in Roma, who they played just 10 days earlier. They beat Roma in that match, but it was costly for both clubs as both Merih Demiral and Nicolo Zaniolo picked up knee injuries in the match. Since then, Juve has beaten Udinese 4-0 to advance to this match and Parma 2-1 to go 4 points ahead of Inter Milan in the Serie A table.

Roma has also had a pretty good 10 days since their last match against Juve. They also claimed a win over Parma, 2-0 in the last round of the Coppa Italia, and added a 3-1 away win against Genoa over the weekend. They still find themselves in 4th place in Serie A in spite of their recent loss to Juventus.

Juve will be a bit more shorthanded than usual for this match. They are still missing Sami Khedira, Giorgio Chiellini, and Demiral because of long-term injuries. Mattia De Sciglio is also still unavailable because of injury. Now Alex Sandro has also picked up a rib injury, leaving Juve with just two full backs. However, they’ll still play their usual 4-3-1-2 formation.

GK: Gianluigi Buffon

Juve squandered their opportunity to have Gianluigi Buffon break the Serie A appearance record at home against his former club on Sunday, so I think he’ll be given another Coppa Italia start on Wednesday. This gives Juve the chance to keep Wojciech Szczesny rested before he likely starts the next few matches. Buffon played well in last week’s Coppa Italia match and it shouldn’t come as a surprise if it he adds a second consecutive clean sheet to his legendary resume.
