Why Erling Haaland will start for Dortmund against Union Berlin
The Norweigan superstar Erling Haaland has become a golden signing for Dortmund this winter transfer window. He’s made a significant impact on his first two matches for The Black and Yellows.
Haaland, since he joined Borussia Dortmund, has already produced what he’s known for, and that is scoring goals. When in RB Salzburg, Haaland found the back of the net a total of 29 times in his 27 appearances for the Austrian side. Since joining Dortmund, he came off the bench twice to score a total of 5 goals in his first two appearances.
Lucien Favre has a killer in the box in his ranks and could well consider strongly in placing him in the starting lineup against Union Berlin this upcoming Saturday. Haaland could make an impact in the opening minutes to give a good advantage for the home side. Erling has received a lot of approval from the Dortmund fans and his teammates since his arrival. His goal-scoring tally could potentially increase significantly well if given more time to perform, and this is why I believe he will start this weekend.
Haaland started his goal-scoring tally when he came on as a sub replacing Łukasz Piszczek on the 56th minute. Less than 30 minutes since his official debut, he helped Dortmund come from a trailing 3-1 score to quickly rise to a 5-3 score with himself scoring a hattrick.

His goalscoring tally continued when Dortmund hosted FC Koln for their Bundesliga matchup. Haaland again would come on as a sub this time in the 65th minute, but it was plenty of time left for him to get a brace in his Signal Iduna Park debut. The home fans are sure enough that they landed a great signing to have in their team. Erling Haaland can potentially become their top goalscorer this season if he manages to keep his pace up, which will be not hard to accomplish.
The real test that the Norweigan youngster could face is when Dortmund faces Bayern, a team Dortmund has struggled to pick up a victory in previous games. That match up won’t take place until early April, so there’s plenty of time to prepare for that match up.
One of his most significant tests is the upcoming matchup against PSG in the Champions League in a few weeks. We will see an exciting matchup between the two fronts when he needs to outperform Neymar and Mbappe to stay alive in Europe’s prestigious tournament.
Haaland is a substantial player upfront and has proved it every time he steps on the field, it is time to become a regular starter under Favre, and he knows it.
