2. Magnificent Luke Shaw

Luke Shaw has been an enigma for Manchester United. The former Southampton star has had his career at Old Trafford ravaged by injuries, and has never managed to nail down his place at left back in spite of minimal competition.

Fans only expected things to get worse for the 24-year-old with the emergence of young Brandon Williams this season. The teenager has displayed tremendous maturity and courage in both defense and attack for the Red Devils so far.

Ole Gunnar Solskjær trusted Shaw to deal with the menacing Adama Traore today, and he handled the task splendidly.

Up against one of the leagues’s most in-form wingers, Shaw barely gave Traore any breathing space. He often had a teammate backing him up, but still did extremely well to keep the Spaniard quiet.

He also covered defensively on numerous occasions, and was tidy in possession. His cutback in the first half found Fernandes on the edge of the box, which the new signing could have done better to convert.

With Williams still rapidly improving by the day, Shaw really needed a performance like this. Solskjær currently has his hands full with an injury crisis in midfield, he can rest easy knowing that he has 2 excellent left backs to call upon.
