4. Burnley dominated for most of the match

Judging from all those chances I was talking about earlier, it would be easy to assume this game was exciting from Arsenal’s perspective. Well, this assumption couldn’t be more wrong as it was actually Burnley that dominated this match.

I remember there was a statistic displayed on Sky Sports at around the 30-minute mark which showed the percentage of on-pitch possession over the previous five minutes. Guess how long the ball spent in Burnley’s half? Yep, 0% of the time.

This was indicative of their performance past this point. They seemed to lock Arsenal into their own third and they were relentless going forward. With all due respect to Burnley, Sean Dyche was unlucky not to get all three points in this match.

5. Bellerin and Xhaka played bright

Hector Bellerin and Granit Xhaka were my two men of the match. The former played at right-back and he was very defensively sound. He was tight on the toes of Burnley’s wingers and rarely allowed them a minute on the ball.

The latter spent the first half in his natural position but he was then moved to left-back to fill in for the injured Saka. Xhaka was an excellent passer of the ball today and I feel like if he kept his position in the midfield, there would have been a lot more chances for Arsenal in the second half. Still, he performed expertly in the left-back role.
