Steven Bergwijn marked his debut with a stunning goal as Tottenham Hotspur beat 10-man Manchester City 2-0.

Despite having less than a third of the ball, Tottenham stuck to their task and put in a hard working shift to prevent Manchester City from scoring. Pep Guardiola‘s side had a number of chances to take the lead in the first half, including one from the penalty spot, but they were unable to beat the inspired Hugo Lloris.

Spurs’ hopes of getting the points received a huge boost at the hour mark, when Oleksandr Zinchenko received a second yellow card after making a tactical foul on Harry Winks. And Jose Mourinho’s side took full advantage by scoring twice in the next ten minutes to take home the victory.

Steven Bergwijn netted the opener, before Son Heung-min made it 2-0, sending the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium into raptures. In the end, it was a well deserved win for Jose Mourinho’s side, who defended well, and took their chances when it mattered.

The win helped Tottenham move up to fifth place going into the winter break, five points behind Chelsea. Here are the player ratings for the Tottenham players from the game.

Hugo Lloris (8/10)

Lloris was excellent today and made some very important saves for his side. The Frenchman also saved Ilkay Gundogan‘s first half penalty, and worked very hard to earn his clean sheet. He also did really well to take his hands away from Sterling’s feet in the follow up to the penalty, and VAR eventually made the decision in Spurs’ favour.
