Frank Lampard is going to war with the Chelsea board again…

Coming out of the January transfer window, Frank Lampard had every right to be frustrated with the Chelsea board. Supporters, and indeed the manager himself, were hoping for more backing from the hierarchy but no deals came in. Especially considering they were unable to sign players in the summer, this is simply not good enough.

Now, Chelsea have to play the remainder of the season with what they have and many would argue, this is not a lot. The Blues are in a good position in the league, technically speaking. They sit in fourth place and they are four points ahead of Tottenham in fourth.

However, given that they have only won one league game of the last five and Tottenham are hitting a good run of form, it’s time for supporters to enter panic stations.

Anyway, Lampard is yet again unhappy with the board’s decision, this time regarding goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga. According to The Mirror, Lampard is prepared to battle with the board to convince them to sell Kepa.

You can understand where Lampard is coming from. This season, the Blues have conceded 34 league goals. In the top 10, only Everton have conceded more (37). As the season gradually gets busier and busier, and the games start coming in thick and fast, this could easily catch up to Chelsea. I suppose it begs the question; why did Chelsea choose not to sign a goalkeeper in January?

The options were there for Chelsea to go out and choose. According to the Express, Lampard has located Nick Pope of Burnley as the potential successor to Kepa. Ageing at 27, Nick Pope is becoming a regular in the England international team and he is predicted a good EURO 2020, so Chelsea may wish to sign the goalkeeper in the summer before his valuation only rises.

Who do you think Chelsea should sign to replace Kepa?
